Adoro leggere.

Leggo sugli ebook reader e leggo sui libri “normali” e per quanto trovi comodi i primi il fascino che esercita su di me il libro cartaceo non è eguagliato da niente.
Per questo ho trovato molto carino il video che segue.
Sean e Lisa Ohlenkamp proprietari della libreria “Type Books” di Toronto hanno utilizzato i ibri presenti nel loro negozio per realizzare The Joy of Books, un video in stop-motion in cui i libri si animano con le note toccanti di Grayson Matthews.
Un modo carino e intelligente di farsi pubblicità.

Sean è un veterano dell’art direction di progetti con manipolazione di immagini. Sul suo sito potrete trovare degli esempi. Ve ne avevo già parlato in occasione del regalo che aveva fatto proprio a Lisa per il loro anniversario.

Olive è il primo lungometraggio interamente girato con un telefono cellulare, il Nokia N8
 ”potenziato” con un adattatore per una lente da 35mm.

Il film è indipendente, è stato realizzato con un budget di  $500.000 e sarà distribuito in 2.000 sale cinematografiche statunitensi. Il cast è di tutto rispetto e spicca il nome di Gena Rowlands. I produttori esecutivi sono Chris Kelly e Bill O’Keeffe

E’ la storia di i una bambina che trasforma, senza pronunciare neanche una  parola, la vita di tre persone: una donna anziana sola, uno straniero che attraversa un difficile periodo di adattamento negli Stati Uniti, e un uomo obeso.

Nokia aveva realizzato lo scorso anno un filmato girato con l’N8 per dimostrarne le potenzialità, lo potete vedere qui ma è la prima volta che un film girato con uno smartphone arriva nelle sale cinematografiche.

Tom Lowe è un fotografo e regista statunitense, che ha vinto diversi premi per la fotografia astronomica e sta lavorando da due anni a un impegnativo progetto, un film in timelapse che racconta il sud-ovest americano.
l film uscirà a Maggio 2012 anche in versione BluRay, ed è in prevendita  qui, ma potete iniziare a farvi un’idea della sua bellezza con il trailer che vi mostro qui sotto e che potete anche vedere  in HD direttamente su Vimeo:

Se siete nati e cresciuti negli anni ’80 dovete assolutamente vedere questo video in stop motion che mostra tutti i giochi di quel periodo.
Lo guarderete con un pizzico di nostalgia ricordando giochi che avete avuto, alcuni sono impressi nella nostra memoria come il Cubo di Rubik , i Transformers, i Lego, alcuni videogames.
Altri magari li avevate dimenticati e vi torneranno alla memoria con un sorriso

Siete tra quelli che passano ore e ore ad ascoltare la musica su YouTube (o a vedere i video) ma vi sembra che abbia una grafica confusionaria e poco funzionale?

Lookfm è il sito che fa per voi.

Appena entrati vedrete una grafica piacevole e pulitissima, uno sfondo nero,  un video a tutto schermo e delle pratiche frecce per passare al video successivo, mettere in pausa o tornare al video precedente. Potrete scegliere se ascoltare la playlist preimpostata con tutti gli ultimi successi oppure digitare il nome di un’artista o di una canzone e vedere i video collegati a quell’artista.

Sono presenti tutti i video di YouTube e vengono riprodotti a tutto schermo e senza interruzioni.

E a proposito di post-it e arte (poche ore fa ho postato questo) gustatevi questo viral video realizzato dalle calzature Melissa per il lancio della nuova collezione primavera-estate 2012.

Hanno organizato una mostra con il tema  ”The Power of Love, ( Melissa Power of Love) a San Paolo, in Brasile e chiesto alle persone di scrivere messaggi d’amore su post-it.

Il risultato sono stati 350.000 post.it attaccati su un’immensa parete. 25 artisti hanno lavorato per 5 mesi per formare immagini da animare in stop-motion.

Probabilmente lo avrete già visto perché sta girando parecchio di blog in blog ma se vi è sfuggito ecco un interessante video realizzato dal dipartimento di fisica dell’Università di Oslo che spiega l’origine del fenomeno chiamato aurora boreale.

Di video sull’argomento “Facebook nella vita reale” ce ne sono infiniti
Questo è in stile candid camera e fa parte di una campagna di viral marketing per la promozione di “Two Boys“: un’ opera lirica di Nico Muhly la cui rappresentazione partirà il 24 giugno a Londra. (L’opera è ispirata alla storia, vera, di un teenager di Manchester che cerca di organizzare il proprio assassinio via Internet).
Il video ha diverse trovate carine, ma a mio parere manca un po’ di ritmo.

Un filmato da lasciare senza fiato, in 1080p, un tour della Terra ripreso dagli astronauti della NASA  e commentato dal  Dott. Justin Wilkinson.

Da vedere assolutamente

We start with the coast of Namibia in southwestern Africa, the very dry desert coast of the Namib Desert. You can see a cloud band butting up against the shore and some straight sand dunes in the lower left of the picture. Yeah those are big red sand dunes that the astronauts say is one of the most beautiful sites that you can get when you’re flying.

Coming into the view on the left is an impact crater right in the middle of the picture, right about now and some wind streaks. We know where this area is because it’s a bit unique. We’ve got a major dune field coming into the picture on the left there: the Oriental Sand Sea, as it’s called in French, and on the top is the Isawan Sand Sea.

This is the island of Sicily with cloud over Mt. Etna, so you can’t quite tell there’s a big volcano in the middle of the picture right now. And there’s the toe of the boot of Italy coming into the picture from the left. See a good example of sun glint on the right with the sea reflecting the sun.

This is the smooth east coast of the Kamchatka peninsula again. As you move inland it gets even more striking as a picture because of all the volcanoes on this peninsula and the snowy mountains. There’s a volcano just coming into the picture from the top left there. You can see a knob-shaped feature.

Here is a smaller finger of land in China sticking into the Pacific Ocean. In winter you can see all the snow lower left. This is called the Qindoa P eninsula and we recognize it. And again, the sun glint point moving along the coast upper center.

In a very clear picture, the Zagros mountains with snow on them in Iran, in the country of Iran.

Here we have the north coast of Australia and the gulf of Carpenteria and some islands. The biggest island at the bottom of the screen there is Groote island, which means the big island in Dutch.

When you see a huge powerful feature like this and the astronauts do shoot them a lot and we have had some detailed views looking right down the eye, looking at the eyewall. In fact I seem to remember views of breaking waves on the sea surface at the bottom of the eye. Amazing detail.

Look at this neat picture of Great Salt Lake in Utah. And the variation in color? That’s due to an almost a complete blockage of the circulation of the lake by a trestle for a railroad that crosses from one side to the other. It stops the circulation and things get a little bit saltier and certainly saltier at the north end of the lake.

Here you see two circles coming in to the top of the view now. These are either volcanoes or effects from inside the earth producing circular features. We think this is the Big Bend area of Texas.

This is an interesting sideways view of the peninsula of Florida, with the Keys stretching out into the lowest part of the picture there. And the shallow seas around the Bahama Islands top right. And Cuba coming into the picture lower right.

And this I believe is the coast of Northern Chile in South America. It’s a very straight coast, except for that strange headland out to the right just disappearing. And so the desert is the first part of the inland zone, and then you see much blacker at the top of the picture the Andes Mountains with some many dozens of volcanoes.

Here is a thunderhead. The typical look of the thunderheads, the big rainstorms, that develop over the Amazon Basin. And another one coming in top right. Here’s an obviously a major river. There’s an even bigger one coming in on the right. That looks to me like it could well be the Amazon River, with one of its big tributaries on the left. And the flow would seem to be from the bottom of the picture to the top.
